Trophy Care
Animals and Game Heads
- Do not cut the throat of any animal, as this may show when the animal is mounted.
- On gameheads, skin to the base of the neck and cut the head off at the base of the skull. DO NOT cut beyond the brisket of the animal.
- If the animal is taken to a processor, just tell them you want to mount the animal and they will skin accordingly.
- If the animal must be caped before bringing it to the taxidermist, cut up the back of the neck on antlered game and make a āVā to each of the antlers and continue to skin out. For full shoulder mounts, cut behind the front legs.
- Please be sure to leave enough hide. You can bring the entire hide if you like.
